Geaux Global

At FBC Haughton we Geaux Global, living missionally by taking the Gospel to our neighbors and the nations in our Jerusalem (Haughton), our Judea (Louisiana), our Samaria (North America), and to the end of the Earth (everywhere else).  We partner with people, churches, and organizations in each of these strategic areas to help establish groups of disciples who will make more disciples.  Each year we also ask people to prayerfully give towards our Geaux Global offering supporting missions worldwide.

At FBC Haughton our vision is that the world may know Christ through Haughton.

We are not called to sit on a pew but to “be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves ” (James 1:22). Our Jerusalem is the community of Haughton. Our Judea is Louisiana. Our Samaria is North America. The ends of the earth is everywhere else.

To find out more information about how FBCHaughton is being led to fulfill Acts 1:8, look below.

Haughton – Jerusalem

ACTION – Area Churches Together In Our Neighborhood

We support ACTION financially and church members also help in food distribution for those in need every Monday and Thursday.

Local Opportunities

We encourage and train our Life Groups and individuals to seek out opportunities to share the Gospel, using block party events and one-on-one encounters. We also have a team of believers who are focused on reaching two neighborhoods near our church.

Louisiana – Judea

The HUB

The HUB exists to show homeless people in Shreveport that they are loved by people and by their Heavenly Father. We have Sunday School classes and individuals who participate in the different activities at the HUB on a weekly or monthly basis. FBC Haughton also helps support The HUB on a monthly basis.

Shreveport Bossier Rescue Mission

Pursuing the passion of Jesus Christ to lift up the hungry, homeless, abused, and addicted is what the Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission is all about. Periodically we have Sunday School classes who help feed people at the SBRM. FBCHaughton also helps support the SBRM on a monthly basis, as well as supporting food, clothing, and toiletry drives.

Seeds Women’s Center

The Northwest Louisiana Crisis Pregnancy Center exists to encourage women to choose life for their unborn child when they are faced with an unplanned pregnancy.  We also partner with them to offer a program called Northwest Louisiana Pregnancy Care Center designed to provide spiritual, emotional, and physical support.

North America – Samaria

Disaster Relief

We have many opportunities to help share the love of God to people who are in dire circumstances through the ministry of disaster relief, whether that is serving on a feeding team, mudout team, or chainsaw team. We have groups participate in disaster relief through Louisiana Baptist Disaster Relief.

Mexican Indian Training Center (MITC)

MITC is a seminary for the Mexican Indians in Central Mexico. Located in Cordoba, Veracruz, the seminary houses 60 students. While we normally take a group in January, trips are available year round. Many times we go thinking we will be a blessing to the students, however, many times they are much more a blessing to us. We help build churches, build dorms and classrooms on campus, visit orphanages, have VBS-type sessions, do sewing, work in the kitchen or anything else God would have us do. This is an excellent first international mission trip!

North American Mission Board (NAMB)

NAMB is the Southern Baptist entity tasked with planting churches in North America.  Their strategy is to plant churches in the least churched areas, which led them to discover and develop a plan for 32 SEND cities across 5 regions, Northeast, South, Midwest, West Coast, and Canada.  God has placed a desire in our pastor’s heart to help plant churches in each one of these areas. Currently we are supporting churches in the South, Renew Church in Baton Rouge and Refuge Church in New Orleans, in the Northeast, Hope Community in Brooklyn, NY,  in the West, The Station Church in San Diego, CA, and in Strategic Areas, Iglesia Bautista Esperanza Eterna in Canovanas, Puerto Rico. We are looking to help develop a church in a SEND city in Canada and a church in a Midwest SEND city.

Hope Community – Brooklyn, NY

New York City is one of 32 North American Mission Board (NAMB) SEND cities and Brooklyn is the most populous section of New York. We have partnered with Gregg Gober, former worship pastor at Cypress Baptist Church, and Hope Community to help them reach their section of Brooklyn with the Gospel.

Iglesia Bautista Esperanza Eterna – Canovanas, Puerto Rico

Iglesia Bautista Esperanza Eterna (Eternal Hope Baptist Church) is in one of NAMB’s strategic locations in need of church planting. We are partnered with their pastor, Oscar Ortiz, looking forward to what God will do in this brand new church plant through him and his team!

Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

We are supporting Anthony Hatchell and his family as they begin the arduous task of planting Rev. 7:9 Church in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Vancouver is one of the most ethnically and culturally diverse cities in the world, which provides Anthony and his wife, Danielle, excellent opportunities to relate to people in Vancouver. Anthony grew up in Hawaii, which is culturally influenced by Polynesian and Asian traditions, and he is half Filipino and half white. Danielle grew up in the suburbs of New York City, which is an incredibly culturally diverse city, and she is half Korean and half Taiwanese. Pray for Anthony and Danielle as they serve in an area that sees very little use for religion or the need for a Savior.

Celina, TX – Legacy Hills Church

Legacy Hills Church is located in one of the fastest growing communities in the country. From 2019 to 2022 the community doubled in size from 18,000 to 36,000 and is projected to grow to more than 300,000 people in the next fifteen years. In 2022, Pastor Robert Welch felt God leading him to plant a church in this rapidly growing community.

Heart for the Unreached

We are partnering with Heart for the Unreached, founded by Kika and Anungula Jamir, to reach legal refugees in the Fort Worth area.  They minister to thousands of refugees from countries like Afghanistan, Iran, Syria, Kenya, Nepal, India, and many more by providing care and compassion for them physically and spiritually. While serving with Heart for the Unreached, you can take a foreign mission trip without needing a passport.

Ends of the Earth

Kenya – Compel Outreach Ministries

We support Bill Britt and Compel Outreach Ministries Compassion International through periodic child sponsor drives in support of the orphanages Compel operates in India and Kenya. We also take trips to the orphanage in Kenya to have medical clinics and have VBS type events and games with the children.

East Asia – International Mission Board

Our church has embraced the idea of taking the Gospel around the world, even the other side of the world to an unreached people group. As a church family, we prayed about an area and a people group God would have us support and that He would raise up missionaries to help reach this people group.  In another part of the country God provided a family who was praying about where to serve when the Holy Spirit placed our adopted people group on their hearts.  Our hearts were broken for this family and the people group when they had to come off the mission field due to a medical condition with their youngest child. Thankfully the missionary has become a mission pastor in the United States and plans on continuing the work that has begun, though in a different role.  We have had groups make trips to this unreached area and are planning future trips.

Sri Lanka

We are partnering with Weston and Cat Benoit as they serve in Sri Lanka through For All Mankind Movement.   Their goal is to reach, equip, and send local leaders to then spark a disciple making movement leading to Biblical churches being planted in hard to reach areas. While based in Sri Lanka, they also serve in other countries in South Asia.

Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child has literally reached hundreds of millions of children around the world with the hope of the Gospel through their shoebox ministry. The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world. Through this project, Samaritan’s Purse partners with the local church worldwide to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and make disciples of the nations.  FBC Haughton collects shoeboxes each November.
